Okay, we’re going to need Outer Banks season three immediately (Netflix, we hope you’re listening).
Between that big reveal surrounding John B’s dad and the somewhat bittersweet end for the Pogues, we’ve been left with lots of questions that only a new batch of episodes will be able to provide answers for.
Fresh off the back of that season two finale cliffhanger and looking ahead to Outer Banks season three, and all the possibilities it could hold, here’s everything we know so far.
What will season 3 be about?
Netflix hasn’t announced any official plot details yet, but it’s safe to assume the third season will continue the treasure hunt of the first and second. That $400 million in gold is still nestled in the Bahamas, and now there’s a bejeweled cross in the mix as well!
Ward Cameron, Sarah’s villainous father, is injured but alive, having officially passed the baton to his increasingly erratic son, Rafe, who no doubt will be gunning for revenge against John B and his crew. Meanwhile, John B and Sarah are once again sort of married (?), and Cleo from Nassau has joined the Pogues, shipwrecked (presumably without food or water?) on an island in the Caribbean. We can expect season 3 to feature their journey home, as well as their big plan for stealing back the cross and the gold. But most important will be the presumed reunion between John B and his long-thought-deceased father, Big John, who apparently knows something about the sacred garment the frightening Limbrey seeks to heal her mysterious disease.
Outer Banks season 3 release date: When will we get more episodes?
Despite the second season of the teen mystery show debuting on Netflix over a month ago, the streaming giant is still yet to confirm the future of its popular show.
Having said that, we’d be very surprised if it wasn’t renewed, given that it’s firmly sat in the streamer’s top 10 after its release.
We know that show boss Jonas Pate has previously spoken about envisaging Outer Banks running through to seasons four or five, but whether the planned story gets told is ultimately down to Netflix giving it the green light once again.
If a third is to be on the cards, we wouldn’t expect to see the show return until mid-2022 at the earliest. There was a wait of just over a year between the first two seasons, with the first premiering in April 2020 and the follow-up only just releasing at the end of July 2021.
Outer Banks season 3 cast: Who will return?
Again, nothing concrete has been confirmed just yet. But if a third installment was to get the go-ahead, we’d expect to see the return of all the main players in the Pogues.
This would include:
- Chase Stokes (John B)
- Madelyn Cline (Sarah)
- Madison Bailey (Kiara)
- Jonathan Daviss (Pope)
- Rudy Pankow (JJ)
It’s very likely that Drew Starkey (Rafe), Charles Esten (Ward), Austin North (Topper), and a new member of the Pogues Carlacia Grant (Cleo) would also join them again too.
Outer Banks Season 3 Trailer: Is there a teaser out already?
Netflix has yet to confirm Outer Banks Season 3 so don’t expect the streaming giant to release one anytime soon.
